Want to find a way to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a family, in Houston, this year? Don’t miss the 23rd Annual MLK Grande Parade, which will take place in Midtown, on Monday, January 16, 2017. This event will begin at 10 a.m., at San Jacinto and Elgin Street, and will last approximately two hours. It is actually the third largest parade in the country, featuring more than a dozen floats and even more bands! Admission is free, too, making it an affordable and fun event for the whole family.
What Will You Enjoy at the Parade?
This year’s event is being sponsored by Cricket Wireless and 89.3 KSBJ, plus many more, including the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets. It will be featuring 15 parade floats, plus a whopping 30 marching bands. The parade route is a whole mile long, providing lots of opportunities to spot the parade from various points around midtown.
The event is actually one of the largest MLK multicultural events in the United States, and the third largest in the country, making it a parade you certainly won’t want to miss.
