If you are looking for a fun and non-traditional way to celebrate this Mother’s Day, look no further than the Houston Dragon Boat Festival, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2016. This is a great family-friendly event, which just so happens to fall on Mother’s Day. The festival is free to attend, with no reservations required, and visitors will have a chance to enjoy dragon boat races along the Buffalo Bayou, with a beautiful view of the Houston skyline in the background! There will be other entertainment, too, making it a great day of outdoor fun.
Ways to Enjoy This Year’s Festival
Races will take place every 15 to 20 minutes, giving attendants plenty of chances to enjoy the festivities. There will also be a variety of cultural performances by groups and organizations from across the city, live music, and the chance to purchase food from a variety of food and drink vendors.
The event is free to the public. Planners do suggest attendees bring blankets to comfortably sit and watch the boat races.
This event is being organized by The Texas Dragon Boat Association, which hosts races throughout the state each year. For more information about this and other upcoming events, you can visit their website, http://www.texasdragonboat.com.
